Share

Dip your toe in a little deeper and allow our story to welcome to our inner world of pebbles.. in a bid to shine light on the rich quality of human made arts and craft, I have decided to share this little short story about our latest collection.
I wrote it at the end of my research time for this collection, collating all my observations and experiences and capturing them in this immersive short story.
I hope the feelings and actions in this story are relatable to you as it is for me, this story is the backbone to the collection. My aim is that my jewellery, which is deeply rooted in these experiences act as a souvenir/ memory of the moments that make you feel so alive and free.
We invite you to take a tiny moment out of your day to transport yourself into our world.

‘Pebble’
A short sketch story I wrote for you
I remove my shoes, uncovering sock-marked feet, determined I don’t need them to soften the irregular floor beneath me.
I step onto the pebble-filled beach, unsure what I’ll do here, and start to walk.
Ouch.
My feet wobble over the uneven stones. Step by step, I jump towards the flattest ones until I find a spot and settle.
I lie back. The pebbles are warm beneath me, my eyes squinting shut in the autumn sunlight. The calm sound of the ocean ebbs and flows through my ears and across my body.
Comfortable and uncomfortable. I can’t decide.
My body softens into the warmth rising from the pebbles. Their smooth, rounded shapes bring a sense of comfort, yet their weight and hardness press into my back. It feels strangely familiar: wanting warmth and safety, while somewhere in my belly there is a fire wanting to feel more alive.
So I lie there and watch life pass by.
My senses are full. Clouds shift overhead, throwing patterns of shadow across my body. Children plop pebbles into the sea. Along the shoreline, towers and sculptures rise from the stones, built with patience and care. Others search for the perfect skimming stone, only to send it whooshing towards the horizon, never to be seen again.
Trouser pockets hang low, full of pebbles.
What will they become? Where will they end up? Has their long journey of erosion come to a halt, destined now to sit on someone’s shelf?
The salty smell of seaweed drifts around me. Sea spray touches my face. My lips begin to curl into a smile.
Millions of ordinary pebbles, bringing so much joy to so many people.
For a moment, there is nothing else to want. Everyone seems content with the simplest of things.
And then I feel it.
A deep urge. A sudden fuck it moment.
I run towards the sea like a child, a grin across my face. Carefree.
Deep breath in.
I dive in, in the most inelegant way possible.
Underwater, everything changes. The light is darker, cooler. The chime of my jewellery joins me beneath the loud rush of waves overhead.
Peaceful. Hidden. Free.
Then—whoosh—I’m out again.
Children laughing. People chattering. Pebbles clanking. Brightness hitting my face and skin.
I pull myself from the sea, refreshed and alive, and hobble back across the beach. The pebbles that felt warm and comforting before now feel like daggers against my cold, sea-wrinkled feet.
I flop onto the nearest large stone and lie there to dry.
Goosebumps cover my body. My wet, salty hair begins to curl like seaweed. The rock holds me, taking my weight.
And there it is again: the strange meeting of opposites.
Comfort and discomfort. Warmth and cold. Stillness and movement. Safety and freedom.
The rounded pebbles are soft in shape but hard beneath the body. They cocoon and unsettle me at once. Around them, the sea thrashes wildly against the shore. Feet crack and crunch across the stones. Pebble towers rise and tumble.
And somewhere between lying still and running headfirst into freezing water, I feel it.
Free. Alive. Connected.
This is your invitation to let go …be free in nature and allow yourself the desire to just let go and go for it.
Be more yourself and take this moment with you….
